Book Description: Join USA TODAY bestselling author Sheila Roberts for a seaside escape to the beaches of Moonlight Harbor Celeste Jones has plans for a perfect summer with her boyfriend (and hopefully soon-to-be fiancé)—until he dumps her to be with the woman he’s had on the side for months. Heartbroken and furious, Celeste resolves to move on. When the going gets tough, the tough…okay, the not-so-tough go to the beach. As soon as school lets out for the summer, she waves goodbye to her first-graders, packs up her bikini and heads for Moonlight Harbor, where she knows her big sister, Jenna, will receive her with open arms. Jenna could probably use some help at the Driftwood Inn, and Celeste is happy to do chores around the place in exchange for a relaxing summer escape. She just needs something—or someone—to distract her from her troubles. Finding The One can be tricky, and Jenna is determined to make sure Celeste gets it right this time around. Not that Jenna’s an expert. She’s still trying to sort out her own love life. But if both sisters listen to their hearts, eventually they’re bound to discover that life—and love—is good at the beach.

Book Description: Lectures on Tibetan Religious Culture authored by one of the foremost Tibetan teachers of modern scholarship, is not only an introduction to the diverse culture of Tibetan Buddhism but also a useful tool and guide to Tibetan literary language. Hence, this book serves as a useful tool for both general and research students pursuing Tibetan studies. Designed as an intermediate Tibetan language textbook, much traditional material is presented in colloquial form, enabling readers to learn to talk about Buddhist culture in Tibetan. The book is divided into two parts. Part one deals with such topics as Buddhist training in Tibet, entering a monastery, studying for a Geshe degree and continuing training at a Trantic college. There are also discussions of Buddhist doctrine and its spread in Tibet Part two presents Lam-rim teachings in a colloquial form, discussing the meditations associated with the three types of persons on topics such as impermanence, casualty, and lower rebirth; miseries of existence, the mind of enlightenment and practice of the six perfections.

Book Description: Of one of the most delicious episodes in a long period of foreign travel, this volume is the imperfect and hastily written transcript. Even at the time it was written, the author felt its experience to be a dream-so exempt was it from the interrupting and qualifying drawbacks of happiness in common and working life-but, now, after an interval of many years, it seems indeed like a dream, and one so full of unmingled pleasure, that its telling almost wants the contrast of a sadness. Of the noble ship, whose summer cruise is described, and her kind and hospitable officers, the recollection is as fresh and grateful now, as when, (twenty years ago, ) the author bade them farewell in the port of Smyrna. Of the scenes he passed through, while their guest, he has a less perfect remembrance-relying indeed on these chance memoranda, for much that would else be forgotten

Book Description: The Origins of Buddhist Monastic Codes in China contains the first complete translation of China’s earliest and most influential monastic code. The twelfth-century text Chanyuan qinggui (Rules of Purity for the Chan Monastery) provides a wealth of detail on all aspects of life in public Buddhist monasteries during the Sung (960–1279). Part One consists of Yifa’s overview of the development of monastic regulations in Chinese Buddhist history, a biography of the text’s author, and an analysis of the social and cultural context of premodern Chinese Buddhist monasticism. Of particular importance are the interconnections made between Chan traditions and the dual heritages of Chinese culture and Indian Buddhist Vinaya. Although much of the text’s source material is traced directly to the Vinayas and the works of the Vinaya advocate Daoan (312–385) and the Lü master Daoxuan (596–667), the Chanyuan qinggui includes elements foreign to the original Vinaya texts—elements incorporated from Chinese governmental policies and traditional Chinese etiquette. Following the translator’s overview is a complete translation of the text, extensively annotated.
