Book Description: Abstract: Managing technological change is considered one of the top ten IT issues in Higher Education. Despite the compelling need for managing technological change processes, a modest amount of research had been developed regarding the aspects of how to guide this process effectively. This explanatory sequential mixed-methods (Creswell & Clark, 2017) study sought to identify the strategies to manage the change of technological initiatives in higher education institutions, specifically LMS transition, from the perspectives of IT decision-makers and based on Guerra-L©đpez and Hicks0́9s (2017) Learning and Development Strategic Alignment (LDSA) framework. The Analysis of 244 survey responses and 14 interview transcripts depicted that while there is no difference in the importance of strategies IT-leaders utilize in managing the technological change among the different types of higher education institutions based on Carnegie classification; there is a significant difference among them when those strategies were compared by institution size. The average mean for the implementation phase strategies was significantly higher in very large HEI compared the other HEI types. Data from interviews indicated that IT-leaders in very large institutions tend to involve all key stakeholders in the change process; they follow a data-driven systematic process to inform their decisions and consider the contextual settings which could result in effective implementation outcomes. Implications for technological change management and related fields are discussed. Directions for future research on technological change in HEI are also identified.
